What is microneedling?

Microneedling is a professional skin treatment that uses very fine needles to create controlled micro-punctures in the skin.

These controlled micro-punctures stimulate the skin's natural healing response and collagen production. As the skin recovers, this process can help improve the appearance of skin texture and tone.

Microneedling can be tailored to your individual skin, the area being treated and your treatment goals.

What can microneedling help with?

Microneedling can be used to help improve the appearance of a range of skin concerns, including:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Facial acne scars

  • Enlarged pores

  • Uneven skin tone and pigmentation concerns

  • Stretch marks

  • Selected surgical scars

Your treatment will always be personalised according to your individual skin, the area being treated and your treatment goals.

How does MicroPen EVO™ work?

At Haus of Beauty, microneedling treatments are performed using the MicroPen EVO™, a professional automated micro needling device designed for precise, controlled treatment.

The device uses a sterile, single-use cartridge containing 14 fine microneedles. As the device is moved across the skin, it creates controlled micro-punctures to stimulate the skin's natural healing response.

The treatment settings can be adjusted according to the area being treated and your individual treatment plan, allowing the treatment to be tailored to your skin and goals.

A sterile glide solution is used during treatment to help the device move smoothly across the skin.

What happens during a microneedling appointment?

Before your treatment, we'll discuss your skin, your concerns and your goals. Your suitability for microneedling will also be assessed, including relevant medical history, skincare and medications.

Your skin will then be cleansed and prepared before treatment.

The MicroPen EVO™ is used across the treatment area with settings tailored to your individual skin and treatment plan.

Microneedling is carried out using a topical numbing cream to help make the treatment more comfortable. Once the numbing cream has taken effect, you may still feel some pressure, vibration or a light prickling sensation during treatment.

Afterwards, you'll receive personalised aftercare advice to help you look after your skin while it recovers.

Does microneedling hurt?

Everyone's experience is different, but topical numbing cream is used before treatment to help improve comfort.

During the treatment, you may feel pressure, vibration or a light prickling sensation. Your comfort will be monitored throughout your appointment.

What can I expect after microneedling?

It is normal for the skin to appear red and feel warm or sensitive following treatment.

You may also experience dryness, tightness or peeling as your skin recovers. These effects can last from around 24 hours to up to a week, depending on your individual skin and treatment.

Your skin will need time to recover following treatment, so following your personalised aftercare advice is an important part of the process.

What should I avoid after microneedling?

Following your treatment, you'll need to give your skin time to recover.

You should:

  • Avoid strenuous exercise and excessive perspiration for 72 hours.

  • Avoid sun exposure while your skin is recovering.

  • Follow the aftercare instructions provided after your treatment.

  • Use your recommended glide gel as advised during the first 24 hours.

  • Avoid applying sunscreen on the day of treatment and return to sunscreen use 24 hours after treatment.

You'll receive full personalised aftercare instructions following your appointment.

How many microneedling treatments will I need?

The number of treatments recommended depends on your individual skin, the concern being treated and the area being treated.

Some clients may benefit from a course of treatments, with appointments spaced appropriately to allow the skin time to recover between treatments.

During your consultation, we'll assess your skin and discuss a treatment plan based on your individual needs and goals.

When will I see results from microneedling?

Microneedling works with your skin's natural renewal process, so results develop gradually rather than overnight.

You may notice your skin looking smoother and more refreshed as it recovers. Improvements in concerns such as fine lines, acne scarring and uneven skin texture can develop over time.

Results vary from person to person and depend on factors including your skin, the concern being treated and your individual treatment plan.

Is microneedling suitable for everyone?

Microneedling isn't suitable for everyone.

Before treatment, your skin, medical history, current skincare and medications will be assessed to determine whether treatment is appropriate for you.

Microneedling may not be suitable in certain circumstances, including pregnancy or breastfeeding, active skin infections, open wounds or irritated skin in the treatment area, certain bleeding disorders, a history of keloid scarring and certain medications or medical conditions.

If you are taking medication, have a medical condition, have recently had a medical treatment or are unsure whether microneedling is suitable for you, please contact Haus of Beauty before booking.

To help ensure your skin is suitable and prepared for treatment:

  • Avoid excessive sun exposure and sunburn for at least 24 hours before your appointment.

  • Discontinue topical retinoids at least 24 hours before treatment.

  • Treatment should not be carried out over active breakouts or open lesions.
